Cherry Reynard
Financial Journalist

Cherry has over 20 years’ experience working for a range of national, consumer and trade titles including The Times, the Financial Times, Telegraph, Independent, Interactive Investor, Forbes and the Investors Chronicle. She has co-authored a book on investing in emerging markets and is six-time winner of the Investment Management Association’s freelance journalist of the year award and eight-time winner of the AIC Freelance journalist of the year award. She began her career as a tax accountant for PricewaterhouseCoopers, before moving to investment bank J.P. Morgan.
Matthew Brett
Investment Manager, Partner

Matthew is an investment manager in the Japanese Equities Team. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2003 and became a partner in 2018. He is manager of the Japanese Fund (and related All Cap Strategy segregated accounts), manager of the Baillie Gifford Japan Trust and co-manager of the Japanese Income Growth Fund. Matthew graduated BA (Hons) in Natural Sciences (Psychology) from the University of Cambridge in 2000 and holds a PhD in Psychology from the University of Bristol.

Lucy Haddow
Investment Specialist Director

Lucy is an investment specialist in our Clients Department, and is also a Managed Fund Product Specialist. Before joining Baillie Gifford in 2013, Lucy spent four years at Ernst and Young in their Assurance and Transaction Support departments. In 2012 she qualified as a Chartered Accountant. Lucy graduated BA (Hons) in Politics from the University of Durham in 2009.

Douglas Brodie
Head of Global Discovery

Douglas is head of the Discovery Team and has led the strategy since its inception. He is a member of the Discovery Portfolio Construction Groups and also a co-manager of the Edinburgh Worldwide Investment Trust. He joined Baillie Gifford in 2001 and became a partner in 2015. He graduated with a BSc in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from the University of Durham in 1997 and attained a DPhil in Molecular Immunology from the University of Oxford in 2001.
